Description

Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is a common congenital cardiac condition that may be associated with cryptogenic stroke and other embolic events. With advances in transcatheter closure techniques, there is increasing focus on identifying patients who would benefit most from intervention. This webinar will discuss risk stratification, diagnostic approaches, and current evidence guiding patient selection for PFO closure in clinical practice.

Objectives

Understand the anatomy and pathophysiology of Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO). Identify patients at higher risk of paradoxical embolism associated with PFO. Review current evidence and guideline recommendations for PFO closure. Discuss patient selection criteria for transcatheter PFO closure. Appreciate the role of imaging and multidisciplinary teams in decision-making.
