Description
Diabetes and cardiorenal management
Objectives
- Cardiorenal metabolic disease describes a series of interwoven conditions including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, chronic kidney disease and heart failure. These disorders are linked with central obesity, systemic inflammation and insulin resistance.
- Understand the interplay between type 2 diabetes and the cardiovascular system, with a focus on heart failure.
Examine the evidence for newer hypoglycaemic agents in the prevention and treatment of heart failure in type 2 diabetes.
- Recognize how to put clinical trial evidence into practice for patients at every stage of the type 2 diabetes continuum, to improve cardiovascular outcomes and protect the resources of the NHS.
