Rhythm control versus rate control in atrial fibrillation (AFFIRM, RACE, EAST-AFNET 4 Trials)
Objectives
findings highlight that patients aged 65 and older with HFpEF and AF treated with rhythm control have an associated lower 1â?year mortality compared with treatment with rate control, even after risk adjustment. Rhythm control is a potential treatment strategy for this population that may provide benefit. Future randomized studies are needed to explore the potential benefits of different rhythm control treatments in patients with HFpEF and AF.
